Here are some things to expect at each age well visit:

Newborn

1st week-newborn (3-5 days)

  • Review pregnancy and birth history (bring hospital discharge paperwork)
  • Physical exam
  • Check weight and growth measurements
  • Review feeding routine
  • May need to check Bilirubin blood level
  • No vaccines at this visit

2 week

  • Check Development
  • Physical exam
  • Check weight and growth measurements
  • Review feeding routine
  • No vaccines at this visit

Developmental Milestones

  •  If upset, able to calm
  •  Recognizes parents’ voices
  •  Lifts head when on tummy
  •  Follows parents with eyes
  •  Smiles

2 Months

Physical exam

  • Weight and growth measurements
  • Developmental Surveillance

Vaccines

  • Dtap, Hepatitis B, IPV-combined into one injection
  • Hib
  • Pneumococcal
  • Rotavirus (oral)

Developmental Milestones

  •  Smiles
  •  Comforts self (brings hands to mouth)
  •  Moves both arms and legs together
  •  Coos
  •  Has different types of cries to show hunger or when tired
  •  Holds head up when held
  •  Looks at you
  •  Fusses if bored
  •  Pushes head up when lying on tummy

4 Months

6 Months
